Hayez Exhibition in Milan

From November 6th to February 21st at Gallerie d'Italia in Milan, a must attend exhibition of 120 Hayez masterpieces.

For the very first time, the three versions of "Il Bacio" painting convey the main features of Italian Romanticism and has come to represent the spirit of the Risorgimento.
Il Bacio doesn’t show just a kiss; it is the iconic kiss that represents the birth of Italy.
Two lovers and their passionate embrace keep bedazzling visitors to the Brera Gallery in Milan who, like the portrayed couple, would like to linger over their kiss indefinitely.

The four colors of the couple’s clothing – red, green, white, and sky blue – correspond to those in the national flags of Italy and France and stand for the two countries’ alliance during the Second War of Independence, which ended in 1859 (the year Il Bacio was released) with a victory over the Austro-Hungarian empire.

Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Super Boat

Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing team up on $1.2 million GT S super boat. Each year, Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing present a high-performance, automotive-inspired boat at the Miami Boat Show.
The parties followed the precedent of crafting a boat version of the hottest contemporary Mercedes, presenting the US $ 1.2 million Cigarette Racing 50 Marauder GT S Concept.

As the 50-foot (15.2-m) concept boat's name makes no secret of, its inspiration is the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT S, which made its world premiere at last year's Paris Motor Show.

That inspiration shines through quite brightly in the boat's AMG Solarbeam Yellow and matte black paint job, brushed to match the AMG GT S car that appeared by its side at the Miami International Boat Show in February.
Like the car, the boat also includes a fast, powerful V8 powertrain.
A 50-ft boat requires a little more juice than a sports coupe, and the 50 Marauder carries it by way of twin 1,550-hp Mercury Racing V8 engines.
When dropped in the engine room of a boat that's lightweight construction leaves around 1,000 lbs (450 kg) of excess fat at the factory, that virile set of twins sends the boat soaring to speeds up to 135 mph (217 km/h). Not a bad seaworthy partner for a 503-hp V8 sports car that hits 60 mph (96.5 km/h) in a 3.7 seconds.

"We are thrilled to partner with the Mercedes-Benz high-performance brand again this year to design our fastest powerboat yet," says Skip Braver, Cigarette Racing's president and CEO. "Featuring the all new AMG-inspired Mercury racing engine, the 50 Marauder GT S Concept embodies our brand's commitment to innovation and craftsmanship."

On board, the focus is on occupant interfacing and comfort, which includes a next-generation Garmin and Cigarette navigation and audio system, computerized controls, Bluetooth connectivity and four HD displays. The color scheme of the handcrafted interior matches the exterior with Solarbeam yellow and black paint and marine grade black Alcantara trim.
Though the two partners call the boat a concept, they slap a $1.2 million price tag on the one-of-a-kind vessel.

Panama Hats "Legendary Lifestyle"

The legendary Panama hat is like no other hat you will own in your lifetime. For centuries, the Panama hat has served its wearer as a symbol of personal style.

As unique as the artisans who create these hand-woven, stylish hats, each Panama hat combines natural resources of Ecuador with a long tradition of South American culture.
Most people don’t know that the Panama hat actually originated in Ecuador, not Panama, as the name suggests.

In the 16th century when Spaniards first arrived in South America, they found native people wearing head coverings made of straw from the carludovica palmata plant.
Spaniards encouraged locals to produce Spanish-influenced hats and, over time, these handmade straw toquilla hats evolved into the brimmed straw hats known today as Panama hats.
But it wasn’t until the 1800s that these Ecuadorian-crafted hats made their way to Panama.
Workers on the Panama Canal wore these straw hats to protect them from the hot sun and heat, while the tightly woven hat could double as a bucket to hold water.
At the same time, travelers and merchants began purchasing the hats at Panamanian ports and the “Panama” hats began to make their way across the world.

The Panama hat first marked its place in history when it was showcased at the at the World Fair in Paris in the mid-1800s, receiving worldwide attention and becoming the defining fashion accessory for the elite.
